Your safety

To keep you safe, we have some requirements we need you to follow. Read our safety rules below. You must sign our safety waiver before you can participate in our activities or rent certain equipment.

The necessary stuff

Polar Folk conducts guided hiking tours and rents equipment in a safe and sound manner with qualified and experienced guides, and with the equipment that the activity requires.

Participation in hikes/courses in the winter mountains involves a certain risk of accidents and injuries. Polar folk seeks to minimize this risk by letting well-qualified guides and instructors lead our tours. Our guides must also commit to following our safety instructions. On our hikes/tours, the guide(s) has the overall responsibility for the safety of the group. As much as possible, the tours must be in line with the group’s prerequisites (physical shape, skills, experience, motivation, equipment, etc.). It is therefore important that the individual participant takes this into account when choosing and registering for a hiking tour. Polar Folk cannot be held responsible for accidents, loss of equipment, or damage as a result of not following the instructions and guidelines from Polar Folk or our guides.

In order for the guide to be responsible for the safety of the group, all participants must be co-responsible and:

  • Adhere to the guide’s guidelines during the entire trip/course

  • Adjust to being a part of the group

  • Follow the guide unless otherwise agreed

  • Stop/wait at agreed places

Other important aspects of our trips/courses:

  • It is important that the individual participant informs the guide(s) about illnesses and/or pains that may be relevant to safety during the trip/course.

  • Participants are obliged to compensate for damage and/or self-inflicted loss of the equipment borrowed for tours or rented equipment from Polar Folk.

  • Any lawsuits against Polar Folk or Polar Folks guides must be made through the Norwegian judiciary and in accordance with Norwegian law.

Photos will be made during the trip, and these may be used for marketing. If you should not wish to be photographed, this must be notified in advance.
